Sir,
EXTENSION OF SANSKRIT PROPAGATION
ABROAD
Prof. Hariprasad K
Recently my
friend Dr. Sudarshan HS (Software Engineer) visited Vietnam. He stayed there about
2-3 weeks. Most of the people of Vietnam are Buddhists. So, naturally there are
so many Bauddha Mathas built across the nation. But due to long term ruling of Communist party,
people are gradually becoming atheists. Due
to atheist mentality of the government Buddhism of the land is not only unaided
but also tremendously disregarded. Consequently, people of the land started to abandon
their own religion. Government is remarkably ignoring native language too. By the result of this people are gradually
disconnecting from their roots. Actually, texts available regarding Buddhism
are in Sanskrit. Though the lord Buddha opposed idle worship, still in all of
the Bauddha Mathas are having statues/idles. And Sudarshan ji analyses these
idles based on his sense of Agama and says that all the idles resemble to Indian
deities. Off course they have their own religious deity names for the idles. But it is true that long back the people of Vietnam
converted to Buddhism from Sanatana.
But now what is happening there? More than 50%
of the population is abandoned Buddhism. This situation is being utilised by
Cristian Machineries to convert them into Christianity. Once up on a time the land was influenced by
Indian culture and flourished by Sanatana Dharma and later by Buddhism. But now
it is taking a very speed track to converting itself with unknown western
abrahamic religion with the bridge of atheism.
But the story of Vietnam is not a
new one. Because of our ignorance we lost Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Butan,
Barma and so on long back.
Now it is an opportunity to us
that we can protect our neighbours from becoming them enemies of their own. It
can be done through Sanskrit.
In a true sense India never conquered
any nation with inhuman brutality. India influenced all the neighbourhood nations
with its rich culture of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” “Krinvanto Vishwamaryam” to
breath and lead the tranquil and prosperous life. This kind of right path shown by lord Sriramachandra
long ago by putting Vibheeshana in the throne of Lanka in spite of having
victory over that. Now also India if
wants to step out, does only to the upliftment of the people only culturally
educationally instead of ruling them as slaves. That’s why rightly lord Manu
said – “Etaddesha prasootasya Sakashadagrajanmanah swam swam charitram
shiksheran prithivyam sarvamanavah”
So in this sense our university
(NSU) can revive the age old indigenous tradition of wisdom and
culture among the people of Vietnam by teaching Sanskrit there, so that the
people of the land can lead the life peacefully.
Dr. Sudarshan ji started this
campaign through his own Institution by teaching Sanskrit to the Buddhist monks
of Vietnam already. He spent the time of two/three weeks for this purpose and
for conduct of his own research project of south eastern Asian study there.
Now it can be continued with
proper plan of action in large scale by the university(NSU) by
establishing Sanskrit Chair in the native university for cultural exchange,
research and propagation of Sanskrit. I am sure, the Indian Government through its Culture Ministry, Education
Ministry and External affairs ministry will help this campaign as if it is its
own business.
